Which Are We Prideful Or Humble? Janice Frame

There are two types of pride in the body of Christ. One being the pride we take in ourselves as a person, what we look like and how we present ourselves to others. This is a good type of pride. This one is pleasing to God. What does it mean to be humble before the Lord? James 4:10 says to humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and He shall lift you up.

The other type is that of having a puffed up attitude, thinking we are better than anyone else and in Proverbs 16:18 it says that pride goes before destruction and haughty spirit before a fall, We are to be humble and not prideful, or full of arrogance. 1 Peter 5:5 & 6 “Likewise, ye younger, submit yourselves unto the elder. Yea, all of you be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble. Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time. We are to not let ourselves get puffy in the eyes of the world lest we should fall. If you let pride rule in your life you will be destroyed. This is the wrong one to have in the body of Christ! We as believers should resist the devil and not let pride take root in our hearts. It will take you out and down to the pits of hell if you let it. It is an abomination to God and He hates it. Whatever He hates we are to hate and whatever He loves we are to love. Saints if we let it take hold of us it will be our downfall.

Church I know for a fact all this is true. As I have dealt with this same area of pride myself. I have been corrected on this many times, and God’s arms are not to short; He can’t reach down and discipline us when we fall into sin. So don’t let the devil deceive you in this area. This is the devil’s main area of expertise as this was why he was kicked out of Heaven. So he knows all the ways to get you to act in pride and to not be humble, as the Lord would have you to be. He knows every trick in the book and he will use all of them to take you down if you let him.

Take time to think about how you are acting or how you are talking to others. Are you doing it with a humble heart or are you doing it out of pride thinking that you know so much more than they do and you can do it better than them? Do everything as you are doing it unto the Lord. Ask yourself would you do that to the Lord and if not then you don’t do it to one of His children.
